The Emergency First Response Instructor

Emergency First Response Taking the Emergency First Response Instructor course gives you the potential to earn revenue both within and outside of diving. Conducting the course also refreshes your skills keeping them sharp if the need arises!

EFR slogan

Emergency First Response Instructor (1 – 2 days)

This comprehensive one day program allows PADI Members (Divemasters, Assistant Instructors and Instructors), current CPR/1st Aid Instructor with another “recognized” organization or a practicing medical professional to become Emergency First Response Instructors (EFRI). The EFR Instructor Course is relaxed and low stress and although regularly scheduled during the IDC can be conducted at any time. EFR Instructor Course

To enroll in an EFR Instructor Training or Crossover program, you must:

  1. Have successfully completed an Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR), Secondary Care (1st Aid) and Care for Children course within the previous 24 months.
  2. Or: Hold a current CPR/1st Aid Instructor qualification with another “recognized” organization and are authorized to teach pediatric care or have taken an EFR Care for Children course within the last 24 months.
  3. Or: Be a practicing medical professional (Paramedic, EMT, Nurse, Doctor)

Examples of “recognized” organizations include: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Safety and Health Institute, Cruz Roja de Mexico, Deutsches Rotes Kreuz, MFA (EMP International), Queensland Ambulance Service, South African Red Cross Society and St. John's Ambulance. If you are unsure if you qualify - please contact us for more information

After completion you are authorized to teach Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR), Secondary Care (First Aid) and Care for Children courses.

The EFRI course will teach you how to organize, conduct, market and promote the Emergency First Response courses and focuses on hands-on application of skills with through instructor led demonstrations and guided practice.

With CPR / First Aid Training being a certification requirement for several PADI certification levels (including Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and OWSI) they are some of the most marketable courses in the PADI System of diver education.

By being able to offer this yourself, your students will not have to look elsewhere for the training they need! After all… ….why send your students to another instructor??

Also since EFR courses are not diving specific, you can offer them to both divers and non-divers alike!
